Woman Rescued from River Corrib by Galway Emergency Services.
Members of the public raised the alarm when they saw a woman being swept out to sea at roughly 11.30pm on Wednesday night (the 6th of May.) The Galway lifeboat was launched, and the woman was soon found in Galway Docks near the Galway Enterprise Park. The woman was taken ashore to a waiting ambulance which brought her to Galway University Hospital, where she is now recovering from injuries which are not life-threatening. Lifeboat shore crew member John Byrne said that the rapid and well-coordinated response was as a result of the new emergency plan for river rescues.
